Tolkien 2015: A Look Ahead




Herein I will detail what Tolkien material will come out this year - that is known, as of now.

- The Art of the Lord of the Rings (hopefully that 'mock-up' cover will be used!)
- The facsimile Hobbit set
- The Story of Kullervo , coming in August in hardback (and other formats?)
- A Brief History of the Hobbit
- paperback edition(s) of Beowulf.
- paperback edition(s) of The Hobbit, illustrated by Jemima Catlin
- Tolkien 2016 calendar - The Hobbit: Part 3 extended edition, as well as most likely The Hobbit Extended Edition Trilogy
- Smith of Wootton Major (hardback pocket edition, like The Hobbit, Farmer Giles, Roverandom and The Adventures of Tom Bombadil)
- other surprises...? (beyond 2015) (wishful thinking) (audio edition of The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun read by Brian Cox? The Children of Hurin poster collection by Alan Lee? The Hobbit Sketchbook by Alan Lee? "The Music of The Hobbit Films" book by Doug Adams? The Hobbit Complete Recordings?)

The Tolkien Signature Paperback Collection: Master Listing

  Recently, HarperCollins has been re-issuing most of the Tolkien titles in a new paperback style. Since that a vast majority of these share ISBNs with other covers, eventually the older covers will be replaced with the new. I wanted to provide head's up for that. If ordered via Amazon UK, Blackwell's, or Waterstones, you'll very likely have the newer/Signature cover. If possible, it may be best to actually visit  the bookstore so you can see which one they actually have on their shelves.   This post is a Master Post, collecting ISBNs of the titles released in this style. I have made them into 'groups' or 'sets' for ease of reference, as well as possibly assist in purchasing them, if one were to get more than one book at once. An Update

So I bet you're wondering how The Saga of Kalvel is coming.  It's going well, but slow. I'm not putting into as much time writing the series as I'd like. It's still being thought of in my head, and I'm only able to get to it part time, but I'm still planning and writing at the same time. This weekend I'm hoping to binge through some.  I'm working on the third chapter for one character, and would like to start the first chapter for another character. I begun as early as Dec. 2011, and my deadline is August of 2016, but so far I have approx about 40 completed manuscript pages that I'm thinking of going back to until the first draft is completely done.  Now. That's manuscript pages.  If I were total everything I'd ever written about Kalvel, it would be closer to around 100 (give or takr about 15 either direction, some things are in various states.)
