"Dawn of Justice" Thoughts and Musings [Not a Review]

Image
I haven't seen Dawn of Justice yet. This is a post about my initial thoughts, musings, and 'pre-watching' reactions. So, I'm calling the film "Dawn of Justice" as opposed to "Batman v Superman" or whatever, because based on one of the previews, it seems to be essentially a prologue to the Justice League. Since I haven't seen the film yet, I will of course reserve any 'score' or 'final say' until then. The first two previews I saw (and I think I saw 3 at the most: one to see some footage, another one due to 'Comic Con Craze' and the final one due to it being shown ahead of a film I was watching in the cinemas). Looked pretty interesting. "Hey it's Superman vs Batman!!". I've read some comics (nothing against those that haven't, just offering context) and those two usually have their reasons for things actually coming to a fight. Despite Superman's powers and abilities, Batman puts up a fight a g...

2016 Films to See

Image
Just recently I finally got around to seeing The Revenant (review on the way...) and that got me thinking that I didn't do a post about which films of 2016 I'm most interested in seeing. Not all of them will be in the cinema though. Well, here they are! DEADPOOL Who said all superhero movies have to be family friendly? Ryan Reynolds seems perfect for this. I won't see this in cinemas because you just KNOW there will be a '20 minute longer more extreme edition' on blu-ray so I'll wait for that. Still want to see the film though. How far will they go?? ALLEGIANT I still haven't seen Insurrgent , but I enjoyed the first film enough to keep watching and finish the series. I'm not seeing them in cinemas, however. DAWN OF JUSTICE I'm curious about this film....DC movies, for the most part, except for Nolan's Batman Trilogy, have never fared well. That's what's keeping out of the cinemas for this ...

The Hobbit Trilogy, Or, The Prelude to the Lord of the Rings - Extended Trilogy Review

Image
At long last, I have seen all the extended editions of The Hobbit. Here is my complete, movie-by-movie (final) review, as well as the trilogy as a whole. I won't spoil anything, merely add or elaborate on the films themselves in regards to the extended films. This review covers the extended film footage only, not the documentaries.

"The Hobbit" Extended Edition Details

Image
At long last, we come to it: the extended edition of The Hobbit Trilogy. I've been waiting since 2013 to see the extended edition of Part 1 (2012, most likely...); and now we have details. Nov. 17th is the date that the trilogy, as well as The Hobbit: Part 3 extended edition comes out in various formats. Whichever formats the rest were released, expect Part 3 to follow that pattern. There will be the extended edition box set, collecting the existing Part 1 & Part 2, as well as Part 3. Nothing 'new' is offered from previous releases, in other words. I myself will nab the 2D blu-ray trilogy set; which is to be 9 discs. My review of the extended films will follow once I've seen them all. I've reviewed the theatricals, year-by-year as I've seen them at the cinema. No pre-order links yet, but keep your eyes peeled on places such as Amazon. At the very latest, check approx 1 month before release. It will look quite sharp next to my Lord of the Rings blu-r...
