Armourded Company of the Sword Events

Image
Well, mine own writing is going well. I regret that I can only write 'part time' but Kalvel is always being thought of, fear not! It may be a bit before Volume One becomes a BOOK, and I hope (but am not promising) to have the rest out shortly thereafter: approx no more than three years between each book.   Anyway, a break!   For you Ottawa Citizens (or nearby) that like medieval weapons, armour and what not, Armoured Company of the Sword has some events coming up following this Saturday's which I covered in a post previously.   Ottawa Comic Con. Check out the Guild booth: selling swords, armour, and talking about class. Bill will also be holding his panel about armour and swords on the Saturday . I plan on topping by either the booth or panel, depending on times, and discussing weapons and armour a bit; because of the series I'm writing. It is my hopes to have a booth set up (not picky of size or duration) as early as the next con.  htt...

Kingdom of Osgoode Medieval Festival

Image
I've never attended a 'festival' beyond the musical variety, but I hope to sometime. If not for Bluesfest (I'm not sure when the festival happened previous years) I would probably check out the festival this year. I will do my best to promise two things the year A Climb of Chaos gets released as a book - I will have a table / panel set up at the Ottawa Comic Con signing and selling copies, and likewise at the Osgoode Festival. The Os Fest will have feasts, jousting & fights & weapons on display (check out those who make their own gear...and use it), markets, music, and more.  The festival runs from July 13-14. It is located in Osgoode, ON south of Ottawa. For details check out the official site:  http://www.osgoodemedievalfestival.com/index.html

Swords and Research

This past Saturday, I was supposed to attend a Mardi Gras Party. However, I only knew one person that was for sure going. Turns out they weren't feeling well the day of, so they didn't end up going. As such, because of what I said earlier, I didn't attend.  Not too long after that, however, while I was beginning to arranging back-up plans (I actually got a text message about 20 minutes after I found out; however it was to a film I was not interested in seeing, plus it was at the opposite end of the city.) I remembered something. Something that could be of great benefit to my project - the book I'm writing, A Climb of Chaos .  As I mentioned before, I want to make it as authentic, plausible, and detailed (but not boring) as possible. In order to do so, I'm doing some medieval-era research. First and foremost on swords, armor, etc. Anyway, one of my co-workers makes his own weapons & armor, goes to sword-handling class, etc. When I told him of...
