Some Thoughts on the Narnia Netflix Project(s)

Image
There have been some new developments in some things I am interested in I wish to address on my blog, despite how outdated the news may be. I don't get to write (in general) nearly as much as I'd like. Now, I'd like to share my thoughts and opinions on Netflix's forthcoming Narnia project(s). Before I do, please note that this appears to be a total reboot / remake, unlike Amazon's Middle-earth series - they're not 'retelling' The Lord of the Rings (Hobbiton - Mordor etc).  Here are the important parts, first up: - "The streaming service has revealed that they have signed a multi-year deal with The C.S. Lewis Company which will see multiple films and a TV series based on C.S. Lewis's iconic book series being released." That means, it appears to be a combination of films and TV series (or multiple series). The question, though, is will all 7 be films, or will the film + series apply to various books? Also, there is word that this may i...

"Hell on Wheels" Ssn3 Uploaded

Image
Today, Netflix has uploaded season 3 of Hell on Wheels . I'll be watching it, but not right away. After I finish the mini-series The Bible, it's on to season 2 of House of Cards , then I'll return to Hell.

"Homeland" Season 2 Now on Netflix Canada

Image
Today I got a notification that Netflix (Canada) has uploaded more episodes (season 2) of Homeland . I'm watching House of Cards season 1 at the moment, then will watch Hell on Wheels season 2 before returning to Homeland . During the summer, I will also watch Vikings . Seems like I watch a lot of TV, but it's all spread out throughout the year.

Keep Calm and Carrie On

Aside from reading and writing altely, I've always been watching some TV here and there. I recently finished up the first season of Homeland , which was quite good. I'm looking forward to Netflix Canada posting the other seasons, as they only have season one. Hell on Wheels , also took care of the first season not long ago.  I also finished up the series for Avatar , which I liked more than I thought I would initially with season one. Oh, Futurama as well, which is over...for good? Presently though, I'm watching Clone Wars . I'm not much of a Star Wars fan, but I enjoy the space battles and light saber fights while eating for instance. I'm also working my way through House of Cards . I've only seen the first episode, and I thought it was quite good. Then again, I've been a fan of David Fincher's work since Fight Club and Seven.  Finally on the shows list which I'm presently watching is Stargate (SG-1) . I'm still very early on in, b...

Cut the Cable, Smash the Dish!

Image
The days of needing one of these may very well be over in five years or under. I am aware that there are....less than legal ways to watch TV shows, but this post is aimed at the legal ways.   One thing I've been meaning to talk about in length, but only hinted at, is my dislike for cable packages. I like mostly premium cable shows (Showtime, AMC, HBO) over standard stuff (ABC, NBC, the CW etc..) it gets expensive for about 3-4 channels. The problem is that you can't get individual 'channels', you have to get the packages if you want HBO.   The thing is, take The Big Bang Theory , or Grey's Anatomy for example. Both are popular shows. But you don't 'need' a TV provider to watch them, as a few days later, the new episode is provided on the TV network's website for steaming for free. Also, that network may allow streaming or access to their shows (example Netflix) through other shows. But not HBO. Oh, no not HBO.   Sa...

NetFlix Update

Image
It appears that my Netflix rotation has increased quite a bit. It had consisted of Community and Damages , as well as the occasional movie from time to time. There's a bunch on there yet to discover, and I hope they keep adding shows ( Deep Space Nine and Voyager , where are you?). Both  Community and Damages  are quite good, and worth checking out. However, I've added another show to the line-up. I really wish NetFlix allowed you to create a list - either to keep track of what you want to watch, or a 'playlist'. I've now watched the first season of Star Trek The Next Generation . I've always enjoyed watching various Star Trek series ( TNG, DS9 & Voyager ), but in the 90s there was no 'TV on DVD' or streaming, or downloading. If you didn't watch it while it aired (either 'new' or 're-run') you had to tape it to catch it. It's hard to imagine watching TV these days without time shift, DVR, or watching the ...
