The Fireside

So I bet you're wondering how The Saga of Kalvel is coming.  It's going well, but slow. I'm not putting into as much time writing the series as I'd like. It's still being thought of in my head, and I'm only able to get to it part time, but I'm still planning and writing at the same time. This weekend I'm hoping to binge through some.  I'm working on the third chapter for one character, and would like to start the first chapter for another character. I begun as early as Dec. 2011, and my deadline is August of 2016, but so far I have approx about 40 completed manuscript pages that I'm thinking of going back to until the first draft is completely done.  Now. That's manuscript pages.  If I were total everything I'd ever written about Kalvel, it would be closer to around 100 (give or takr about 15 either direction, some things are in various states.) So what have been reading lately, you ask? Well, for the past while I've been working my way through the fantasy series Wheel of Time . It's been part of my life for a while now - first heard of and started getting the books as far back as '03. I'm about to finish Book 10, then it's onto 11-14. After that, I'm taking a break from series / big books by reading Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl (also want to read that before the movie comes out). For the next series, I'm undecided on reading Daniel Abraham's Dagger and Coin, or Stephen King's Dark Tower . I'll read both, but which first?  I have quite a few books to last me a while. My next purchases tho, will be Maurice Druon's Accursed Kings series. I'll buy all seven in paperback the day the seventh is released, all at once. I'm also getting George R.R. Martin's material. Winds of Winter is a given, as well as A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms .  I also like some good YA...

I am not a full time writer. I write as a hobby, and an interest of mine. I may blog more often than I write, but I still enjoy and am continuing to  breath e life into my Kalvel series. With the return of Game of Thrones , and possibly The Winds of Winter arriving next year (just my guess, we will have to see) I have become more motivated to write more in one sitting, and more often. So it will be a little less blogging lately, and more effort put into my novel as well as the series it is a part of. I wi ll still stop by and say hello every so often. It may once a week, or once every two weeks…nah, that’s too long. About once a week. Most of the planning for Vol. 1 is pretty much done. I know who the main five viewpoint characters will be, and where Vol. 1 will end, and Vol. 2 will begin. I have a few chapters written, as well as the Interlogue. I have a good idea of what will happen to who in Vol. 3-5, and some ideas on where to end one volu...

I am going out of town for the Easter weekend, so here's an update....

2012 was a great year for me. I got renewed at work, went on my own vacation and flew for the first time. My novel, A Climb of Chaos , has gotten some significant development. Fleshing out, writing and crafting the book, as well as the series, will take time, energy and effort. My blog here has been an outlook to share some of my life, as well as provide an outlet of creativity to keep me writing and thinking when I'm not in Kalvel.  Also, I am no longer single. Well, I haven't been as of recently; yet that's still an accomplishment this year of sorts. I found love (or rather it found me) and things are just going so well.  On the reading side of things, I believe I read about 11 books, not including comics / graphic novels, which has included a few series:  A Song of Ice and Fire , The Hunger Games , Millennium (official title of Stieg Larrson's trilogy) and now The Wheel of Time .This year, 2013, I'll meet my goal! Santa Claus was also generous...

I knew this would happen eventually. I traveled, came back, got into the swing of things, had another 'vacation' of sorts (place to myself for 8 days!) but now it's caught up to me - things are getting busy again. Here's what's on my plate.

It's been awhile since my previous posting. I've been busy lately. However, because of that, that means I've got more to write. Where I last left off, I was doing some research for A Climb of Chaos . I haven't written anything for it since. Oh, I did invent a character though. Nothing's been jotted down though. I'd also finally seen The Descendants , a film featuring George Clooney, and one I'd meaning to see since around Christmas. Also, I'd gotten two new pairs of jeans. Some of my work / mess around sets are actually literally beginning to fall apart, so I stocked up. I'll be using some older 'good' jeans for work now, to keep the cycle going. Also, I have some tragic news to report. Someone I know has recently passed away. To be more exact, she took her own life. I didn't know her too well (she was friends with some of my friends); but I met her about 3-4 times, and knew her well enough to recognize her name, and know what she...
