It's a New Dawn, It's a New Day....


Today is the first day of the New Year!

There's a few things coming up that I am looking forward to, detailed here....

Well here we are! There's some things that I am looking forward to, so I'll do my best to list it all here. This posting is mostly a list, so it will be random and unorganized. I will apply structure where applicable.

- 2015 Ottawa Comic Con. There are some trades I'm after I'll be on the hunt for. There is not a comprehensive guest list announced yet, so here's hoping for some good panels and guests that will not solely dedicated to one particular fandom.

- Nova Scotia. My lovely lady and I will visit Nova Scotia at some point for ourselves, sightseeing, and visiting some of my family. 

 - a new job. Let's just say that I am in need of a new job, and would definitely appreciate one sooner rather than late. No less than 3 months, and no overnights (rotating sleep schedules is not good for one's health)

 - publishing something. It's been a while since I've spoken about writing here. What with all these crazy hacks going on, I'm keeping mum. I hope to publish something in the coming year if I can. I will let you know of more info once applicable.

- Some Books. Novels, as well as some graphic novels. There is a Walking Dead hardcover coming out in the fall, as is custom, a new Dark Tower trade coming in March (perhaps one or two more through the year), some Batman. For books, there's The Art of the Lord of the Rings (Tolkien's artwork), The Empty Throne by Bernard Cornwell [in the format I get], The Slow Regard of Silent Things [in paperback] by Patrick Rothfuss, The Spider's War, the finale by Daniel Abraham, Golden Son by Pierce Brown, hopefully The Winds of Winter by George R.R. Martin, and whatever other surprises come, though I don't plan to buy a lot of books - print novels - this year.

- video games. As of now, there's at least one I plan to get: The Legend of Zelda (u) coming in November!

- blu-rays. I'm sure I'll buy a few throughout the year, but one I know I will buy is The Hobbit extended edition trilogy. 

 - TV shows. new episodes of: Downton Abbey, House of Cards, Vikings, Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Sherlock, and catching up on others.

-  movies. There's a few, but the big ones I'm looking forward to are Avengers 2, Spectre, Mission Impossible 5, Mockingjay: Part 2 and The Hateful Eight.

- a new computer. I'm thinking either an Alienware or ASUS laptop. 

 - a new phone. iPhone 64GB .

- beer. I'm always discovering new breweries, or my favourite ones brew new...ah, brews. Next up on my list to buy is St. Bernardus Abt. 12.

...and whatever positive things life throws my way. That's about it for now, though....

The Tolkien Signature Paperback Collection: Master Listing

  Recently, HarperCollins has been re-issuing most of the Tolkien titles in a new paperback style. Since that a vast majority of these share ISBNs with other covers, eventually the older covers will be replaced with the new. I wanted to provide head's up for that. If ordered via Amazon UK, Blackwell's, or Waterstones, you'll very likely have the newer/Signature cover. If possible, it may be best to actually visit  the bookstore so you can see which one they actually have on their shelves.   This post is a Master Post, collecting ISBNs of the titles released in this style. An Update

So I bet you're wondering how The Saga of Kalvel is coming.  It's going well, but slow. I'm not putting into as much time writing the series as I'd like. It's still being thought of in my head, and I'm only able to get to it part time, but I'm still planning and writing at the same time. This weekend I'm hoping to binge through some.  I'm working on the third chapter for one character, and would like to start the first chapter for another character. I begun as early as Dec. 2011, and my deadline is August of 2016, but so far I have approx about 40 completed manuscript pages that I'm thinking of going back to until the first draft is completely done.  Now. That's manuscript pages.  If I were total everything I'd ever written about Kalvel, it would be closer to around 100 (give or takr about 15 either direction, some things are in various states.)
