The "Frozen" Effect

My girlfriend & I had seen Frozen in theatres while it was playing a while ago, and we both loved it. For one, I was surprised by how much I did like it.

I'm a fan of Disney. I grew up with some of their classic cartoons, and so did my sister. Some of them appealed to her more than me, and me more than her. But should I watch one of 'her' movies with her, I'd always enjoyed them. I also enjoyed Pixar's films (well, most of them).

Also, they aren't 'Disney' but I also enjoy Dreamworks stuff for the most part too. Just putting that out there.

Anyway, I was not expecting reaction to Frozen being as wild as it was. Disney tried to re-enter their nostalgic / princess phase a few times in the past. I was glad for the 'non' CG look of The Princess and the Frog, but something from movie was missing. It was good, but I was expecting something 'different'.

Brave by Pixar came along and I enjoyed that. Again, not the story I was thinking of, but still great anyway.

Then, came Frozen. And Disney nailed it. Everything about the movie works. I won't re-review it, but the songs are great (as are the singers), the effects are cool (yeah, I did that on purpose) and a few good twists about the whole 'true love' thing.

Because the film caught on so well, there have been a few good things on the internet. One of my favorites, is the crossover / mashup of Else and Jack Frost from Dreamworks' Rise of the Guardians: https://www.google.ca/search?q=elsa+jack+frost&client=firefox-a&hs=xDq&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=sb&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=MA-VU8-SDcbD8AGF9oCQBQ&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw=1920&bih=951

The other, the video from 'How It Should Have Ended' : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dach1nPbsY8
More scenes after the credits. Wait until the video ends.

Finally, the popularity of the film has resulted in a character from the film showing up in the season finale of ABC's fairty tale show...should the writers want, they could work in Jack Frost, or actually make...that character....the White Witch from Chronicles of Narnia. Now there's a crossover yet to be done - Frozen  and Narnia (The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe)
