Speculation - "The Two Towers" and "The Return of the King" Layout on Vinyl
So this another post about the music of The Lord of the Rings films.
I am basing this purely on what we've seen so far for The Fellowship of the Ring vinyl set, and 'applying' it to The Two Towers and The Return of the King.
First, I'm going to go over the Fellowship one again.
Here is the tracklisting for the CD:

So, now we see how it 'transitions' from CD to vinyl.
Next, let's examine The Two Towers.
First, let's go over how it'll look.
As with The Fellowship of the Ring, I imagine the design from the CD set to the vinyl set will be replicated. With Fellowship, it had Frodo with the letters of The One Ring reflected upon his face for the 'book' inside the box that houses the discs. At this point, without seeing a proper 'unboxing', it looks that image still used for the vinyls. Will it house all of them? Is it a box or sleeve of sorts? I'm unable to tell based on the photos at this point. I mean to say that I am unable to tell exactly how the vinyl package will replicate the CD one.
Anyway, so looking at my Two Towers set, the 'book' that houses the discs features of an image of Gollum scaling a cliff. This is the image used (may not be the exact 'frame' though) https://www.thefandomentals.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/golem.jpg .
Also, the box has a 'blue' theme. That will also likely be carried over to the vinyl. The vinyls themselves will be blue, where the Fellowship ones were red.

Ok, so that was a rough outline. I may be off by a bit. I'm unsure of how much music can fit onto each side of a 180 gram LP vinyl. I know Cds are approx 74 - 77 min or so. Either way, I can see The Two Towers being a 5 LP set as well. If it's 6, LP 6 would be one-sided.
Finally, we've got The Return of the King.
Expect it to 'match' in design and style with The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers. This time, the colour would be green. The 'book' that houses the discs features an image of Aragorn on horseback. This one here: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51RA%2BbPO-7L.jpg .
Now, let's have a look at the CD set tracklisting:
Now, here's how I see the vinyl set looking. Again, this rough guess-work.

So this is a very rough, speculative look at how the remaining films can be presented on vinyl. I may be off the mark a few times here, but I think it's safe to say that I'll be right with the design element, and that for the entire trilogy score on vinyl will come in at a total of 18 vinyl LPs (5 for Fellowship, 5 for Towers, and 8 for King.) The Two Towers could be 5 or 6 LP's, and The Return of the King could be 7 or 8. So in total, I'd say expect 17-20 vinyls in total for all three soundtracks.
Please note that if anybody at Warner Bros, Rhino, or is involved with the films, the soundtracks in any shape or form - please do ot cancel or alter your plans in the odd chance I may have gussed right - I am a fan of these films, and the music in them; and am just offering my speculative opinion for what is to come, as I am looking forward to the following two installments to come out on the vinyl format.
[Also, apologies for the 'formatting' of this blog post - sometimes blogger doesn't agree when it comes to copy + paste. I got the tracklisting off of Wikipedia.] Finally, I want to do a push for Doug Adams' Music of the Lord of the Rings Films book. It compliments these soundtracks tremendously, whether you have, or plan to get them, on CD or vinyl. It can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/Music-Lord-Rings-Films-Comprehensive/dp/0739071572/ref=sr_1_1_atc_badge_A28VFQ2RQJP1YP_twi_har_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1519503387&sr=1-1&keywords=music+of+lord+of+the+rings |
