My Must-See movies of 2015 (and Beyond)

As 2014 winds down, I am looking ahead to see what movies coming up in the next bit interest me.

So, here is a look as of now...

In the Heart of the Sea
Based on the 1820 event, a whaling ship is preyed upon by a sperm whale, stranding its crew at sea for 90 days, thousands of miles from home.

The Moon and The Sun
King Louis XIV's quest for immortality leads him to capture and steal a mermaid's life force, a move that is further complicated by his illegitimate daughter's discovery of the creature.

Avengers 2
When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and it is up to The Avengers to stop the villainous Ultron from enacting his terrible plans.

Minions
Minions Stuart, Kevin and Bob are recruited by Scarlet Overkill, a super-villain who, alongside her inventor husband Herb, hatches a plot to take over the world.

Ant-Man
Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

The Jungle Book

...and another Disney classic that gets the non-animated-reboot treatment (Alice in Wonderland, Maleficient, Cinderella....)

Spectre

A cryptic message from Bond's past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.

Mockingjay (Part 2)

After being symbolized as the 'Mockingjay' Katniss Everdeen and District 13 engage in an all-out revolution against the autocratic Capitol.

The Hateful 8

In post-Civil War Wyoming, bounty hunters try to find shelter during a blizzard but get involved in a plot of betrayal and deception.

Mission Impossible 5

The fourth film (and the third) were vast improvements over the seoncd. The series of movies, for the most part, have been pretty good. I'm looking forward to seeing this next installment to see where the series is going to go. I am also curious when the last film will be.

Warcraft

Now that The Hobbit is finished, where will get our fantasy fix? Perhaps here.... [based on the very first video game]

Star Trek 3

"Live long, and prosper..." I'm looking forward to seeing this, to see where the story and characters are headed.

Captain America 3

They're doing the 'Civil War' story from the comics! This is going to be sweet....

Alice Through the Looking Glass

This seems promising! It'll be interesting to see how it pans out...

X-Men Apocalypse

I've been looking forward to this one since Days of future Past ended.

Doctor Strange

Sure, Benedict Cumberbatch may be beginning to become 'overused' , but the roles are great that he takes.  Also 'next piece of the Marvel movies'.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2

The first one was the most FUN sci-fi film since Serenity, I believe. So I'm looking forward to this, and it's 'next piece of the Marvel movies'. Hopefully less Groot in social media after this one. That was annoying.

How To Train Your Dragon 3

The end of the trilogy! Is it a trilogy? Hopefully they won't do a Pixar and ruin film three by actually making a fourth film (Toy Story). Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing this one. If it does have an 'ending' I hope they won't milk it too much. [isn't that what the TV series is for, which is actually good?]

The Avengers 3 (Part 1)

More Marvel! More Avengers! But why is this getting split in two? Shouldn't it be 'Avengers 3' and 'Avengers 4'? Unless there's a lot going on here and the next Avengers after this is a DIRECT continuation.

Thor 3

OK, so I've got to say that my favourite of the Marvel 'solo' movies are Iron Man, Thor, and Guardians. So I'm looking forward to this.

Inhumans

I do not know that much about this particular corner of Marvel Land but I'm looking forward to learning....

The Avengers 3 (Part 2)

The second half of the third movie - huge storyline etc? We will have to see why this one big movie being split into two, rather than 'just' two films.

The Chronicles of Narnia (The Silver Chair)

I'm hoping that this one gets made, and made well. It's in very early pre-production so we'll see how it goes. If they 'have' to skip one of the Narnia books to make into a film, I choose The Horse and His Boy, which is kind of a 'spinoff'. Also, they could skip The Magician's Nephew, which is a prequel. Finally, making two parts for The Last Battle makes sense. If they keep making them [well], I'll keep seeing them [in cinemas].
