Game of Thrones Goodies



Because next weekend is the season 4 premiere of Game of Thrones, I'd thought I'd get you all excited by recommending some of the merchandise that's come out. This is for mostly the HBO series (because there are simply more items), although I will mention a few book related items listed herein.

 


Owning the series on blu-ray / hi res digital - to re-watch, and get others into it.



The books. They are out in various formats, but I recommend the paperbacks by Harper Voyager. Harper always does a really good printing job, and the books by them are a pretty decent size (not too large, not small). Steins. merchandise that's appropriate. Choose your house, and take a drink [responsibly of course].



Beer by Onmegang - that's right: beer influenced by the series. The stout was pretty well recieved, and the new 'fire and Blood' seems promising also. 



Coasters. to put your stein of beer on. There are two 'sets' (with a stone version of set 1 available).




Bookends. There are a few but I recommend the direwolf set, pictured at post's beginning (though the ones above aren't too shabby). Great for displaying the blu-rays, or the books. 



t-shirts. Choose your house, and show your support!



Lands of Ice and Fire - for watchers, and readers, follow the journeys of the characters and get a much better look at the realm. Features a lot of fold-out maps.




Swords by Valyrian steel.You know, for decorative purposes. Also, should an Other invade your dwelling. http://www.valyriansteel.com/shop/



Games - card and board by Fantasy Flight. play the Game of Thrones!

Posters. There's been a few, from the 'official posters' (book cover, blu-ray cover...) to posters of the House sigils. Decorate ye walls.

  Recently, HarperCollins has been re-issuing most of the Tolkien titles in a new paperback style. Since that a vast majority of these share ISBNs with other covers, eventually the older covers will be replaced with the new. I wanted to provide head's up for that. If ordered via Amazon UK, Blackwell's, or Waterstones, you'll very likely have the newer/Signature cover. If possible, it may be best to actually visit  the bookstore so you can see which one they actually have on their shelves.   This post is a Master Post, collecting ISBNs of the titles released in this style. An Update

So I bet you're wondering how The Saga of Kalvel is coming.  It's going well, but slow. I'm not putting into as much time writing the series as I'd like. It's still being thought of in my head, and I'm only able to get to it part time, but I'm still planning and writing at the same time. This weekend I'm hoping to binge through some.  I'm working on the third chapter for one character, and would like to start the first chapter for another character. I begun as early as Dec. 2011, and my deadline is August of 2016, but so far I have approx about 40 completed manuscript pages that I'm thinking of going back to until the first draft is completely done.  Now. That's manuscript pages.  If I were total everything I'd ever written about Kalvel, it would be closer to around 100 (give or takr about 15 either direction, some things are in various states.)
