Winner of a Goodreads Book + Comics Update


I won a book off of Goodreads!



A while ago I entered a giveaway on the Goodreads site. I often enter to win a few books on there from time to time. I'd heard of City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, the first in her 'Mortal Instruments' series, and admit I like the cover designs for her series. I do like some teen books (Harry Potter, Hunger Games...) but teen fiction isn't really an area I follow.

So yesterday after coming home, I saw package for me in the mail. Strange...I didn't order anything lately.... The way that I opened it, I saw the pages (opposite side of the spine) and thought ...I didn't order books lately... then when I opened it further, I saw that it was a book I entered to win! I had received no notification, so it was a surprise win! checking the package, I saw that it was addressed to me from the publisher. So thank you for that! =) 

If anyone has the read that book, as well as the rest of the series, let me know how it is!

On the comic book side of things, I'm caught up with Hellboy in the trade format. Waiting on Vol. 13 to come out. Also, my Walking Dead number 8 (in hardcover) came out. I'm not caught up yet...still need 6 and 7. Those are ordered, and when they come in, I'll grab all three at once. 

Aside from that, I'm all caught up with my comics. I plan to start the Dark Tower comics...but after I read the books.

  Recently, HarperCollins has been re-issuing most of the Tolkien titles in a new paperback style. Since that a vast majority of these share ISBNs with other covers, eventually the older covers will be replaced with the new. I wanted to provide head's up for that. If ordered via Amazon UK, Blackwell's, or Waterstones, you'll very likely have the newer/Signature cover. An Update

So I bet you're wondering how The Saga of Kalvel is coming.  It's going well, but slow. I'm not putting into as much time writing the series as I'd like. It's still being thought of in my head, and I'm only able to get to it part time, but I'm still planning and writing at the same time. This weekend I'm hoping to binge through some.  I'm working on the third chapter for one character, and would like to start the first chapter for another character. I begun as early as Dec. 2011, and my deadline is August of 2016, but so far I have approx about 40 completed manuscript pages that I'm thinking of going back to until the first draft is completely done.  Now. That's manuscript pages.  If I were total everything I'd ever written about Kalvel, it would be closer to around 100 (give or takr about 15 either direction, some things are in various states.)
