Stanley Cup Semi-finals

Image
We are now beginning the next round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Below is the bracket for competing teams. Round by round, who do I like? Between the Rangers and Caps, I could care less as both teams have eliminated teams I like. Between Philly and Jersey, I'm going for Philly (not limited to that one match-up). Moving to the West has St. Louis vs the Kings, where I will go blue. Between Coyotes and Predators, I'd like to see the Preds move on.

This and That

Sorry it's taken awhile to post again. Things are a bit busy. Looking for work (first and foremost), re-watching The Tudors , reading, NHL playoffs and doing some editing (more like formatting) for a friend. No, I have not shelved my book. I've pressed 'pause' on it for the next week and a half to two weeks to do said editing. got a few more bits and pieces to add throughout, as well as some slight re-working of the 'Ascension' snippet "pre-editing", and finishing up the next snippet I hope to release soon....  I'm about 1/5 through the editing project. It's good, because it gives me a chance to look at someone else's work, and see how it 'flows', in terms of story telling and within the text document itself in terms of spacing, etc. On the hockey side of things, Pittsburg and Philly are having one heck of a round 1, with many goals being scored. I like Crosby on the ice, and his stats (where it counts), but not off. I'm ki...

Round 1, Battle 1

Image
The Ottawa Senators lost their first game against the New York Rangers. Ottawa fell behind by 4 goals, but managed to snag 2, for a 4-2 loss. The Rangers were all over Ottawa (especially the main defence), and Zack Smith (grr) kept getting us penalties. Meanwhile, the Bruins managed to get their first win of round 1, after a tense game. We'll see how the rest will follow.... As it stands - 'Home' team: 0; 'Playoff Pick' Team: 1

Save the date....

If you haven't heard by now, HBO has renewed Game of Thrones  for a third season. Being a 'Thronie'; I'm glad to hear the news, but not surprised due the popularity. The title of my post is a nod to a certain event which occurs in Storm of Swords:  a massive spoiler, shocking event which happens. Don't worry, I won't post it here...or at all. What follows is my reaction to the news, and thoughts on how the rest of the series could go....

2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs: My Thoughts

Image
Well, here we go. The first round of the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Choose a team, get ready...it's hockey like nobody's business. Here are my thoughts / hopes on the match ups....

Author Spotlight: Bernard Cornwell

Image
That time again to do another author / series spotlight. After mentioning George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire  series (which the HBO series Game of Thrones is based on); Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time ; and Brandon Sanderson's brand-new Stormlight , I had uncovered another author and series I wish to recommend.

On Writing and Technology

This will be included as kind of a forward in my first book....

"The North Remembers": Episode Review

Image
Game of Thrones  is back with a bang. It is bigger, bolder and better. As mentioned before, I'm reading the book series. March of 2011 saw me finally start reading Game of Thrones , after having it and the subsequent novels for a while. After reading that, I read Clash of Kings, Storm of Swords, Feast For Crows  and am now reading Dance With Dragons . I remember most of what's happened, but not everything. Seeing the HBO adaption of Ice and Fire  (HBO uses the name of the first book, Game of Thrones , to name their entire series) is a great refresher. So, what did I think? Well, I was impressed. I can't seem to recall the accuracy of the book, but I do wish the episode opened with Stannis and Melisandre, as the book did. I know it's an adaption but look at how close and well done season one was! Ah well...I can't recall anything missing, though. After all we still have nine episodes to go. I haven't ruined anything yet, nor will I, but I will say that my fav...

Game of Thrones Season Two premiere

Image
It's tonight on HBO. You probably already know, but if you didn't, tune in...and that's only if you've seen season 1. It'll definitely be great. I'll post a non-spoiler reaction post after I've seen it where I'll talk about its quality as a show, and how the transition was from page to screen. I'll do the same for the finale (reminder post & thoughts on both the season as a whole, and the season finale episode.)
