Why I Like TV

Image
Lately, in the past 10-15 years, I have noticed that TV has become a great source of not just entertainment, but art.

NetFlix Update

Image
It appears that my Netflix rotation has increased quite a bit. It had consisted of Community and Damages , as well as the occasional movie from time to time. There's a bunch on there yet to discover, and I hope they keep adding shows ( Deep Space Nine and Voyager , where are you?). Both  Community and Damages  are quite good, and worth checking out. However, I've added another show to the line-up. I really wish NetFlix allowed you to create a list - either to keep track of what you want to watch, or a 'playlist'. I've now watched the first season of Star Trek The Next Generation . I've always enjoyed watching various Star Trek series ( TNG, DS9 & Voyager ), but in the 90s there was no 'TV on DVD' or streaming, or downloading. If you didn't watch it while it aired (either 'new' or 're-run') you had to tape it to catch it. It's hard to imagine watching TV these days without time shift, DVR, or watching the ...

Some Fantastical Artwork

Image
It's been a while between posts, I know. I've been reading, watching TV, and doing some writing. Working on a quick, random scene in my head so I won't lose it involving an attack on a shore featuring a chanting offensive. Yes, chanting and singing before the battle.  I want to do a bit of a different post today, this one focusing, and showcasing, some extraordinary fantasy artwork....

The good old hockey game, is the best game you can name

Image
Hello out there, we're on the air, it's 'Hockey Night' tonight. Tension grows, the whistle blows, and the puck goes down the ice. The goalie jumps, and the players bump, and the fans all go insane. Someone roars, "Bobby Scores!" at the good old Hockey Game. Oh, the good old hockey game, is the best game you can name. And the best game you can name, is the good old hockey game. Second period. Where players dash, with skates aflash, the home team trails behind. But they grab the puck, and go bursting up, and they're down across the line. They storm the crease, like bumble bees, they travel like a burning flame. We see them slide, the puck inside, it's a 1-1 hockey game. Oh, the good old hockey game, is the best game you can name. And the best game you can name, is the good old hockey game. Third Period. Last game of the playoff too. Oh take me where, the hockey players, face off down the rink. A...

New Wheel of Time editions - update

Image
A while ago, I made this entry:  http://insurrbution.blogspot.ca/2012/09/new-editions-for-wheel-of-time.html  . It lists the 'new' trade paperback editions of The Wheel of Time , which feature the 'ebook covers' and a larger trim size - much nicer editions of the books than the mass market editions. As promised, each time there's an ISBN # and a publication date, I'll add it to the 'master; blog post I linked earlier here, as well do a post informing people that there is a new edition coming of the next book. no, the publisher did  not re-issue the entire series on one day, but is publishing the next installment every few months. The next one is, some of you may  be waiting for to pre-order (all the other books have ISBN#s and release dates) is..... ... The Path of Daggers . Really quick, the publication date is Nov 13, 2013  and the ISBN #s (what to use search to get this exact copy of the book) is ISBN-10: 0765336472 ISBN-13: 978-0765336477 Agai...
